The Edge of the Wold

Cherry redbreast

The robin is perched in an ornamental cherry outside our office. The cherry is a bit blousy and overstated when in flower, but for a few brief days in Autumn it colours gloriously. I suspect that by next Monday it will have shed all its leaves, whereas it is only this last couple of days that it has been this yellow colour.

My target today was Bertie the bullfinch who regularly comes to the feeders. I nearly had him in focus twice, but he kept eluding me. Tomorrow perhaps.

The big red bird-stalking Volvo went to see Fred the garage-man for its MoT today. Expensive works are needed before a certificate can be awarded. It has to go back tomorrow. One of those car dilemmas - the works will cost more than the Volvo is worth, and then I will feel obliged to keep it for another year, but to replace it with anything so reliable would cost more still. We'll keep it for another year then.

Our friends Noreen and Stef headed home with their two little lads today after nearly a week with us. But we won't be rattling round on our own for long, as we have more visitors coming tomorrow. It's been a bit difficult to keep up with comments these last few days, and I'll probably struggle over the weekend too.
