Barley Cove

Today the weather was quite incredible!!! Blue skies, no wind and warm! We headed off to the Mizen Peninsula taking in old favourites such as Ballyrisode beach, Barley cove beach, and the tip of the Mizen itself with its newly revamped bridge and amazing walkways above the sea. We lunched on cheese toasties at a little pub over-looking the sea and after romping around on various beaches the sons were ready for toasties round two at the Mizen cafe.

This is a view of Barley Cove. It is a huge sandy beach, totally unspoilt and wild. The tide was out when we got there but coming in very quickly. We watched two brave surfers attack the waves- she only had a half westsuit on and took about half an hour to get in! I dont blame her!

In the evening we went to see Contagion in the cinema. A star studded cast and potentially highly dramatic story but it was strangley flat and unexciting. Everyone was in the loos afterwards washing their hands though!!
