Where Next?

New Zealand, well it's a bit like Scotland really

A day spent exploring. We went to the beach at Scarborough and turns out the water here is as cold as it is in the north of England. Painfully cold! The black sand on the beach was scorching, this gave us the strange experience of simultaneously violently shivering and dancing on hot coals, what must the locals make of us?!

On the way to Sumner and Scarborough we drove passed loads of shipping containers stacked up at the side of the road. It was a while before we realised that these were there to prevent rocks and houses falling onto the road. Looking up we could see half a house left hanging over the edge, more evidence of earthquake damage.

In the evening we took a walk up the hills at the back of Ruth and Neil's house. Andy is extremely jealous of the mountain bike tracks which are easily accessible. This photo is taken from the top of the hill looking down to the sea below. It's very beautiful and reminded us a lot of Scotland or the Pennines.
