Forth Tiger

One of he Forth Ports Pilot boats - the 'Forth Tiger'.

This is a historic year for Kirkcaldy harbour. After a period of around 30 years when no commercial shipping entered Kirkcaldy harbour, it is once again open for trade. Grain shipments have been arriving for Robert Hutchison Ltd, flour millers and maltsters. They started in August, but I have never managed to catch an arrival or departure. Tonight, the 'Shetland Trader' was leaving and the pilot boat arrived to manage its departure through a very narrow entrance. Unfortunately, high-tide coincided with the onset of darkness.

Whilst in the harbour, the pilot boat demonstrated its manoeuvrability by rotating 180 on the spot.

This blip is the arrival of the pilot boat.
Hopefully I will upload other images to Flickr. When I do, I'll add the link here.
