Thaddeus Rex at rest

Today has been a mixture, beginning with an early morning run, and the last event so far was the launch of the New Zealand Poetry Society annual anthology. Lots in between, only some captured "on film" as it were.

A rather grey morning and a standard course on my run, found little of interest other than a very empty Cox's Creek (absolute low tide as I went past). Too busy at work to think of a daytime photo hunt; mainly because it's not something I think of doing, so it doesn't occur to me anyway.

Home briefly after work before we headed out for the book launch. Daughter J (who is due back in three days after four years in Glasgow and London) left her cat with us. He has had to get used to life in an apartment without access to the ground level. He does get to enjoy weekends at the beach with us. Back here he tends to sit, sleep and eat, as well as shed long ginger hairs everywhere. Mostly known as T Rex he is certainly a carnivorous killer, at least in his own fantasy life.

Then off to the nearby Whitespace Gallery for the book launch. A small gathering collected between cabinets containing pieces of an exhibition by Greer Twiss, inspired by the Victory of Samothrace. Seven of the poets published in this anthology were present at this Auckland launch (the main launch had been a week or so ago, in Wellington), and read their work which had been included. S did very well when it was her turn, as did the juniors who were there; four young women with a bright future, it seems.

Home again, and sorting out what to blip. S happy with the record of her reading but not wanting it blipped. Instead she is really keen on this one. I did reduce the shadows a little, and then restored the colour, as well as cropping it slightly.
