Welcome home, Jesafly

This morning we drove out to the Auckland airport with the two lads to collect daughter and fellow blipper Jesafly, returning home after four and a half years working in the United Kingdom. Initially Glasgow, and most recently London. Mr H in particular was very keen to give her a welcome balloon, as well as his welcome home drawings and notes.

After a slightly faster than scheduled flight from Los Angeles, she walked out and great happiness was shared by those of the family able to be there to welcome her. Our other daughter also came to the airport and she and Mr H brought the intrepid traveller back while we olds had to be content with the youngest member of the family for the trip back to the city.

As I post this late in the day, she remains alert and in fine fettle despite a five hour time zone change.

The early (ish) time of the arrival meant no morning run, and then heavy rain encouraged staying around. Late in the afternoon, I decided I needed to brave the wet and take my run (shortened to half an hour), and satisfy the obsessional drive to take a photograph while on my run. Done, and filed, but nothing like as important a memento of today as is this photograph.

Those who visit her journal will note two things. One that her journal is entitled YellowButterfly, the colour of the most obvious butterfly on the welcome balloon. Secondly, she spent three months in Madagascar as a volunteer for Azafady, and some of her pictures have been posted.
