Towers

Many thanks for all the lovely comments about daughter J's return from UK (via two weeks in USA). It was a lovely day, and we were all pretty tired by the end of it.

Off on the morning run again this morning, and headed for the Auckland Domain. Shortly after I came in through one of the side entrances I was looking straight at this conjunction.

In the foreground is a left over Christmas Tree from the free concert in the park on the weekend. Wire and plastic and topped by a star. On the left in the middle distance is the chimney of the Auckland City Hospital. The square block-like building is the old block, which was the new block when I was in my early years there. The chimney is from the boilers fired by coal. It is a long time since I have seen what once was common; belching black smoke into the atmosphere.

In the centre and far distance is the Sky Tower. Connected to the Sky City Casino, this tower offers fabulous views over Auckland from the revolving restaurant at the largest diameter of the tower. Bunji jumpers leap from the level above, and observant diners can sometimes see a plummeting body hurtle in front of them.

Choas at work with five urgent Court reports requested at the same time as I have the big agenda to read for the two day meeting next week. Commenting will be sparse I fear for the next ten days or so.
