Scotland The World Over Pt4

I took part in Scotland The World Over!
again.

What a day today has been. Sleeping was not really an option again as Baby Boy insisted on not sleeping. SO the morning started early for me and the little ones whilst Wife tried to catch up on some of the lost sleep from the night.

We were due to be taking part in the Santa Dash 5km (ther was also a 10Km) down at the seafront but were not sure as it had rained early and given Baby Boys cough. A bit too late I went to wake Wife and we decided we would still do it. So we rushed to get all our stuff together and get down for the race. As we approached the start of the race with minutes to spare the 10km runners who set off slightly earlier advanced towards us. An onlooker started to panic and told us to go on the road so we didnt get trampled. I informed her we had a race to run and were going through. We did and it was no bother.

We joined the back of the sea of red and throw on our Santa suits just as the start got underway. Half dressed, and argueing we set off on catch up. We eventually got in the pack and then stopped to get fully clothed having given up on attaching numbers leaving us to catch up again. This was when Toddler took to the buggy and Baby started his tired wail.

He was long over due a sleep but refused to give in, probably due to all the many Father Christmas running around him. I ended up carrying him for the last Kilometer until we approached the line, at which point Toddler sprung out of the buggy to skip across the line and I put Baby down to cross the line under his own steam whilst full of tears.

We grabbed our medals, and mince pies (which I ate all of and then felt strange) and headed for home Baby still belting it out. He did fall asleep in the end, as he was wheeled through the door of home. As for Toddler she was full of beans with her medal for the rest of the day to go with the one she got for dancing yesterday. Wife and I well we were exhausted, not physically from the run, but mentally from the stress of it all.

Will we do it again, probably, the beauty of parenting is we will forget the struggles of today and remember all the Santas and the sea splashes soaking them all.
