What did I see today...?

Pride and Glory

We were never going to win.

As a lifelong Spurs fan I'm all too familiar with their style and I knew that even if they played their hearts out tonight (and for a few minutes here and there they did), they were still going out of the Europa League tonight.

That didn't stop them playing though, just like it didn't stop Shamrock Rovers from meeting Spurs head on with gritty determination. 4-0 is a little unjust, they deserved a couple of goals and Spurs deserved to finish with at least one player less than started.

The best part of the night though was the fans. The 400 Spurs fans who travelled to Ireland and the 7,000 local fans who turned up to cheer on Rovers. At times the 400 outsung the 7,000, but the whole time there was a sea of green as the locals celebrated their team's achievement and marked the final game with their current boss. One of the greatest things I saw was a small kid with his father at the end of the match, both bedecked in Spurs hats, scarves and jackets - and both wearing Shamrock Rovers shirts - dancing and singing away.

And at the end, the grins never faded and neither did the pride - glory, glory indeed.
