Cowshot Bridge

Cowshot Bridge over the Basingstoke Canal was built in 1792, part of the Deepcut flight of locks between Woking and Aldershot in Surrey.

It might have been a mistake to bring the dogs here today as there's restoration work going on which means diggers and lots and lots of deep mud on the towpath. So, although I know you won't be reading this, I'd like to apologise to the people who are going to get a letter later this week, bearing a muddy paw print. It was in the car when Pippa, the Jack Russell, decided to jump over the seats.

We saw a bit of wildlife on the walk. Two fine roe deer came bounding past us in the wood, a decent sized pike was lurking by one of the lock gates and a heron flew low overhead.

George, our youngest son, is getting on with his compost bin project and expects to finish before Christmas Day; and I'm working on the bumper Christmas quiz which I toil over every year and which is always condemned by the family as long-winded and mind-numbingly boring.

But this year will be different. I've responded to feedback from my focus group and there'll be more TV, film and entertainment questions with fewer involving battles, history and geography. It's bound to go down a storm.

Here's a question for blippers - no Googling allowed: Where would you find the letter combination, TGFOP? and, for one more point, what do the letters stand for?
