Garden Coats

After the stunning effort by girl yesterday it was Boy's time to make us proud. Last night he went to bed and did not wake up until 6am this morning.

Although this may not sound like such a feat it is massive. In the 19 months of his existence he has only ever sleep a whole night without requiring adult supervision once. Not only that but he has only really had a handful of decent shift of sleep also. He generally averages two to three hour shifts of sleep between his parental calming visits (calming for him not us).

So it was with much Christmas joy that he was handed his early morning in bed banana. We are not sure whether it is the northern air, the northern peace and quiet, the long car journey or the fact that there are a suitable number of adults to attend to his every need that he put in this mammoth snooze. Either way it was a nice early Christmas present for us. To celebrate Wife had an additional late morning nap and I had and afternoon one. Well they do say sleep promotes sleep dont they.

I did manage a quick strole round the village with Boy this morning where we got some air and nattered to a few villagers. Back home is pretty good for community relations given that it is down South but it is nothing like up here. You basically can not walk very far without stopping to natter with someone, whether you know they or not. It is very nice, although slightly alien and confusing for a dedicated southerner like myself. No wonder everyone up here is much more laid back and less stressed as you always need to make time for a chat. Its nice.

This afternoon we managed a quick swing in the garden where I got some nice shots like this and this but had to go with a classic Girl one full of fresh air.

I hope Boy does more of the same tonight on the sleep front as I don't really fancy driving around for six hours to promote sleep like that again, though given the tiredness of the last year or so I would probably consider it!
