A time for everything

Shaking himself off!

Tuesday
Once again it was hard to believe it was January, with sunshine, blue skies and temperatures topping out in the fifties. But that was the last - tomorrow we are supposed to have rain, and more seasonable temperatures by the end of the week, so this afternoon I got out to enjoy it, going for a long walk at Winton Woods. I was nearing the end of my walk when this group of ducks paddled over furiously to where I was, then got out of the water and started preening themselves. I just caught this one shaking himself off afterwards.
Not everywhere is avoiding the snow however. The small town of Cordova in south-eastern Alaska has had approximately 18 feet of snow in the last couple of months, with more expected today! They usually average about 100 inches for the whole season! Roofs have been collapsing under the weight of snow, some people have been trapped in their homes, and the National Guard have been sent in to help dig them out!
Roger stayed home again today, though he did work from home this afternoon, and this evening says he feels pretty much back to normal now. Lets hope we both stay fit and healthy for a while now - the year did not get off to a good start!
