Dublin Shooter

Statuary stadium

I left Carl's around 11:00 and stopped off at what used be the Berkley Court Hotel (another victim of the property bubble, now somehow functioning on a stuttering basis with the adjacent Jurys, its sister hotel). I needed to check the Berkley restaurant as a possible spot for Sunday lunch with friends tomorrow.

I parked in the barrier controlled car park (free for the first half hour) and grabbed this just-in-case blip before going in. It was the statuary which caught my eye -- especially the strange second face (mask) -- hanging down from the figure's neck. Then there was the stark contrast between this figure and the ultra modern revamped Lansdowne Road stadium behind. The outcome of the investigations is that we may eat here tomorrow, subject to checking the menu, or opt for the carvery in the Dubliner bar in Jurys.

Back home I sorted myself out for the music session and arrived at the host's door bang on the appointed time of 1:00 pm. We had a really good session, though it did run on a bit. Rather than become embroiled with the hoards of rugby supporters who would undoubtedly be in Clontarf Castle, our host opened a couple of bottles of wine and served them up in his place instead.

The rest of the day was quiet and uneventful, taken up with the usual TV, music and book-reading.
