Standard Life in the Canadian Winter

At lunch today, I was looking out across the nearly monochrome city skyline and quietly beating my head against the window. Why? Because I did not need to look at any thermometer to know from the steam rising from the buildings that the temperature was way below what I find acceptable. For the pedantics, it's currently -31C out there. The wind chill means it feels more like -42C.

My eyes focussed on the ivory-coloured building over closer the frozen river and I realized I was reading a sign that said, "Standard Life." Sad thought.

This may be my standard life today; but I really prefer not to think of it as my standard life in general.
