Are we all on the same page here?

Ok, it's merely a shot of a photo in a tea/coffee place in the centre of town. Never paid it much mind, to be honest. The other day though, I had a closer look and discovered that there was a marked difference in the comments from the critics. Honestly, were these people at the same play??! Either that, or the language of the 60's was a world away from present-day usage.
