Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Cracked

A year ago today we were in Egypt on a tour when the revolution started. As we were in Luxor on this day and the next, we didn't see any of the demonstrations and the internet was still working. Our Egyptian guide was delighted with the "1 day revolution". When we got to Alexandria 2 days later, the phones and the internet were down and we had to eliminate a few sights on our agenda and our guide was getting very nervous. When we came back into Cairo 2 days later, buildings were burning and there were riots. We left on the 6th day of the revolution on our scheduled flight realizing we had just seen history in the making. One would have hoped that one year later, there were be more progress toward a more peaceful, fair and satisfying government. The american professor who was with us is there again now with another tour so he will have some more insights when he returns. I have been working on a book about this Egypt trip so have just relived all those memories.

No great inspiration for a photo today other than to play with my cheap macro adapter. It has an incredibly small dof and is definitely not up to par with all the beautiful macro photos I've seen on blip - but this is all I managed for today - so I played with filters a bit. A metaphor for some political situations?
