Celtic Connections

The annual team outing to Celtic Connections.

After a fry up brunch we set off in 3 taxis to the Concert Hall for the Folkestra (from Gateshead) and RSA (that's the newly named Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) concert. This has turned into a bit of a tradition for us, going to hear the young students of traditional Scottish music. As ever, it was excellent, if a bit chilly under the ferocious air con. Y's home made tablet/toffee kept us all going.

Than to Brown's in George Square for a long, and noisy, early dinner. A lot of food was eaten and much wine drunk. As usual it is a boys/girls split at the table. The 4 'boys' spent the entire week-end talking football, interspersed with golf and tennis. With us 5 girls, most of it was about grandchildren (not me!), work, and the upcoming cluster of significant birthdays - 3 this year - oh and the medical reports. Distressed to hear last night that good friend M, in Inverurie, the youngest of us all, has had a heart scare diagnosed as a minor stroke. I am not doing, old age, illness and be a doting grandparent - I AM NOT.

Finally off to the Tron Theatre for the Annie Grace Band. The support was a Catalan singer - very dramatic and not much appreciated by our group but Annie Grace (ex singer form Iron Horse) was brilliant. But it was so hot - we could have done with some of that earlier air con.

Then, back to Langside for - more drink and food. By this time I was on water.

It was a great day.
