Halifax Harbour.

Backblip!

I drove down to Halifax friday morning and met Jane at our Hotel! Lots to chat about and we got down to that business very quickly. After unpacking, we headed to the hotel pool and spent a good 1/2 hour there....it was wonderful! Then after a shower etc., we headed down to the bar and had a couple of glasses of wine and laughed and talked and gave some thought to how we each wanted this weekend to unfold. Being with a friend you have known for many years, and have been thro so many of lives struggles with, casts a certain patina on the relationship.....we 2 are very comfortable with each other, and we were just so happy to know we had 3 nights and 2 full days ahead to share! We headed of in the torrential rain to see a concert at the university arts centre, all centred around Rumi and his poetry....which was very interesting. it got a wee bit repetative.....the music is wonderful but there might have been a bit too much of it! the poetry was wonderful, the music was amazing, but the most spectacular part of the event was this amazing whirling dervish of a woman, off to the side of the group of musicians.....dressed in black with a beautiful moss green skirt that flaired out as she whirled! it was mesmerising! I am now on a quest to find out more about this Sufi ritual with the idea of doing a painting or two! very exciting when that kind of inspiration hits!! i can also see the form being translated into a new teapot form!!!

saturday (the day of this shot) was a non stop day of eating, drinking coffee.....walking, walking and more walking...all over downtown Halifax. To art galleries, art supply stores and down by the harbour! just spectacular. But it was biting cold and the walk back to the hotel, mostly up hill, was a bit of a struggle for both of us....we were exhausted...but man were we satisfied and happy. So back down to the hotel bar, wine and food - and more delving into life and it's many facets. Back up to our room and an evening of tv....we found the perfect old movie..... Groundhog day! i've seen it many times, but still find parts i don't remember....and jane hadn't seen it.
so, it was a very satisfying day and evening!
