Sunday's backblip!

Another glorious and stimulating day! We drove down to the waterfront, explored the farmers market there and had a great time. then we headed off to the Nova Scotia Centre for Arts and Craft.....it was a great find! this is a shot of 3 of the pieces in a one-man exhibition there. i loved what this guy has done with the surface of these pots! so often the glaze overrides the form, camouflaging it with usually a dynamic glaze. but this guy has fired these pieces quite low, temperatur wise, and used a matte finish. then he draw on the forms with chalk! this produces the softest and most appealing surface!

we headed up town to this strip mall type place, loads of shops etc, to hang out in Chapters - i needed to find a couple of things....and the movie theatre was right there too! just after we sat down in the theatre, out went all the lights and we were plunged into total darkness and silence! after about 10 minutes we were informed that the whole area had been hit by a power outage...no idea when it would be restored! so imagine the hundreds of folks trying to get out of the parking lots, all at the same time....with no traffic lights!! i was so impressed with the civility of everyone....it was quite a wonderful thing to witness! so, back at the hotel (which did have power thank god) explore plan B! well, back down to the lovely sophisticated bar, a couple of glasses of wine and dinner. Back to the room - we were just too tired to try and head out to find another cinema.....rent a movie on the telly! boy did that turn out badly! the title, which escapes me, didn't give enough details....turned into a rather violent movie about a serial killer (of women of course!!!) but you know what it's like....curiosity got the better of us! so with lots of muting and closing of eyes....we got thro to the end....which was totally not worth it!
