Taking Flight

This is a Mexican Jay in flight.  There are several sub-species but this one is aphelocoma wollweberi arizonae and is found in Sonora and Chihuahua, Mexico, and north to central Arizona and southwestern New Mexico. It is the largest and most pale of all subspecies.

I think I was the most patient I have ever been today trying to get a blip.  I took a gazillion shots.

There were plenty of  jays as there were about five feeders out where I was watching in the wooded area, but for me trying to catch a bird in flight, with a zoom lens, no less, was a mighty challenge.

It won't win any prizes but I'm proud of myself.
