The Untrained Eye

Trujillo, Peru and the big rain

Today it rained in Trujillo for the first time in 12 years- or 20 depending on who was telling you the tale. Whatever it rained and rained and this town that was made the capital of Peru by Pisaro's Spanish conquering army just could not cope.
The ancient buildings coped with the downpour but the majority of the flat roofed homes leaked like the proverbial sieve and the roads were awash. Most of these houses are homemade and no two match.
Although the country is rich in resources a large proportion of the people are very poor.
