Our tea-trolley has never been the same since, when descending from the kitchen stool, I put my foot through it and broke one of the shelves. Prior to that its failing joints had been welded and glued; in short, it was a poor specimen but it still functioned.

Imagine my delight to see a perfect model on eBay for a reasonable price, in the North of England. After a few emails we arranged to go and collect it, and booked ourselves an overnight stay nearby to make a weekend of it.

On the way we saw this fascinating sculpture next to the road (between the A585 and A586), I know nothing about it and would be delighted if local blippers can tell me what, why, etc it is there. It certainly made the journey more interesting.

We collected the trolley from the charming owner, met her elderly cat, then headed off through Blackpool to St Annes for a walk on the snowy beach (in a wind that cut through like a knife) and to admire the statue of Les Dawson, which I recognised from a recent blip, a wander through the town and to our hotel.

Edit: thanks to Rickmac I have more information. A shame we didn't have time to stop, I should dearly love to visit John Ditchfield's studio.

Back-blipped for Friday.
