Snips and Snaps

Lines of Communication

After yesterday's bright sunshine today brought endless greyness and wall to wall drizzle. This telegraph pole with its decorative finial was there for the taking. Apparently it was the Victorians who first started to decorate their telegraph poles with finials. This, presumably, to pretty up what was considered to be rather ugly industrial architecture across the countryside. This example is likely to be one fitted by the GPO, in the 1930s. How do I know this? Because there is a website called the Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society - I kid you not! Hoping the weather is going to improve for the week :)
