Karens Unicorn

This small but perfectly formed restaurant on St Stephens Street in Edinburgh is a reincarnation of the much loved Unicorn of former days.

With 6 hungry mouths to satisfy we opted for the banquet, and what a true feast it was. Some of us opted for a "blake" after the starters, whilst other intrepid souls marched onward to gourmet heaven (didn't you Emma?)

Soon however we all joined the fray once more, the delicious aroma of scallop in ginger and crispy monkfish combining to magically create a small void to be filled. On future visits I may just opt for the rice noodles as they must be the nearest thing to perfection I have sampled in a while.

the service was sublime attentive but not overwhelming and the constant flow of iced water and the hot towels after every course made us feel pampered and content.

Do go, but fast for two days before hand to do justice to the art of this remarkable chef, meanwhile Adam is breakfasting on the packaged remains, crispy beef and rice noodles
the boy is a machine!!
