Bus for Artemisia

This afternoon we headed for the Artemisia Gentileschi exhibition at the Musée Maillol. No sooner had we left the metro at Sevres-Babylone and started down Boulevard Raspail to the museum, than we saw two buses in a row with this horizontal poster on the front, advertising the show (every bus seems to display museum shows on the front). View it large.

Artemisia (1593-1652) was one of the first women painters to truly compete with men. She was controversial for years--raped by an assistant of her father (also an artist) whom he then sued--but eventually she became recognized as a truly creative Italian Baroquw painter. The exhibition is excellent!

In this blip you can see a Velib station (velos libres, offering bicycles for short term rental--there are stations all over Paris, and the concept has been widely replicated.
