The Maryhill Sawyers

Spent a work day out of the office at Maryhill Burgh Halls.

Its a fantastic place now purchased, re-furbished, re-opened and run by the local community.

At one time the building was derelict and the historic stained glass windows depicting the trades-people of the area were almost lost.

They are now back in pride of place in the hall, along with ten modern stained glass windows showing the life of people in Maryhill today.

Anyone interested in knowing more or visiting could have a look here.

It was an impossible choice for a blip as the building is full of lovely light and detail (including a fabulous new level created in the roofspace above the hall where you can literally wander amongst the posts and carvings which before would have been high above your head).

But I went for this window, as it shows the trade of sawyers, which has a link of some kind to my surname (perhaps I have crafty genes in there somewhere...?)
