Alister

Cllr Alister MacAlister's funeral was held at lunchtime today. The third of our SNP Council Group on Argyll & Bute Council to die in the last nine months the service at Kirn Parish Church was enlivened by his children's memories of a remarkable man, who was still racing motorbikes at the age of 70.

His coffin was decorated with pictures from motorcycle racing in the past but Alister was also a formidable sailor, an accomplished horseman, a fine engineer and as a Councillor , whilst quiet and very courteous to friend and foe alike, he was passionate in defence of his constituents and made the speech of his life in support of Toward School during the marathon Council meeting about school closures last April.

Alister will be missed by many. But he leaves a very rich store of amazing achievements.
