The long journey

North wind

Took the ferry to Skagway today. Skagway used to be the main point of reference during the gold rush and today it still keeps all the buildings from the late 1800s. The name itself comes from Tlingit "Skagua", which means "Home of the north wind".

It was completely surreal. I got into town at 5ish and all the cruise ships had already gone. The wind was blowing really strong and cold and everywhere was shut....it looked like a ghost town! I felt like I was in one of those old western movies!

"As the north wind starts to whisper
I open my encrusted eyes
And walk into the beyond
To the land of the thousand skies"
