London 2012

Chris in Horseguard's Parade with Tony, Jeremy, Sharon, Catherine and of course Betsy and Al.

We've had such an amazing day watching Chris. The London Marathon is such an amazing event that is so much fun to watch.

We met Nibs and Nick at Limehouse, at about 11.30, and watched from Narrow St at 14 miles. It's a great place to watch as it's totally residential and the streets are busy and all the balconies are full of people cheering and clapping. Chris came by at about 12.15, and he was laughing, showboating and showing off! He ran out and hugged and kissed us all. It was great. Everyone around us saw that we knew him and the whole of the block gave him a massive cheer and round of applause.

We had a picnic in the park in Narrow St and then went to Commercial Road and saw him there. That was at about 21 miles and he still looked in great shape - it was really emotional. I could see how much he was enjoying it.

We said goodbye to Nick and Nibs at Westferry Rd and then headed for Horseguards Parade. Chris has took an hour off his first time, and half an hour of his last time to run it today in 4 hours 11 minutes. We were all so proud of him.

Catherine and Sharon came to Horseguards Parade, they had managed to see him twice as well. We walked to Embankment to get the train to Waterloo where we said goodbye to Sharon, Catherine, Jeremy and Tony.

It was an amazing sunny day and we didn't see a drop of rain despite the forecasts. The rain started as we were on the train home. Chris is flaked on the sofa now as are the children. Al fell asleep on the train on the way home, they are all exhausted. An amazing day.

While we were in Horseguards Parade Chris told me that he has already registered for next year!
