These Happy Poles are Dancing

Commanding the view between Little Lonsdale Street and Latrobe Street, is the State Library of Victoria. A stunning building with plush green lawns, it is flanked on everyside by the hustle and bustle of the city. A favoured meeting place for overworked students and spent shoppers, it is always a great place for peoplewatching on a lazy weekend afternoon.

Dotted along the street in front of its grand lawns are 'ye old fashioned' street lights which have been lovingly turned into works of art featuring the flora of Australia. I walk past them regularly, but today the colours seemed more vibrant and I stopped. 'Tis a great thing to combine the everyday with Art - it makes stopping so much more interesting .....

Autumn is settling in and the sunshine is playing ever so differently across the cityscape. Colours change in dappled light and these happy poles are dancing.
