The Life Of Ponty Cyclops

Reflections Of A Female Tufted Duck

What a great name for a prog rock album! ;o)

A real mixed bag of a day today.

Woke up feeling a bit rubbish but spent a few hours working with Dawn on the new business. I then had to go down to Newport Wetlands to meet Cellan Michael, who is South Wales Area Manager and in charge of the Futurescapes project for this area for the RSPB.

We were there as we were doing a recording with the BBC for their Listening Project. The concept was rather straight forward. You are recorded having a forty minute conversation about something and with someone you always wanted too. I chose Cellan as the Futurescapes project was my first real interest into the RSPB work.

The recording went brilliantly, Ed, the man from the Beeb, was supposed to give us a ten minute warning when we got to half an hour. He didn't want to interrupt us, so after 45 minutes he said, I think you guys had better do a wrap now. (not a rap in case you were wondering!!)

We get a CD of the conversation now, which is edited down and placed in the British Sound Library for prosperity, sections of all the recordings will appear on Radio 4 in due course. It was great fun to do.

The day had been tempered somewhat by me running over someone's poor cat en route to Newport Wetlands. I didn't even see it, as it run out under the car rather in front of it. It really upset me for the rest of the day. There was nothing I could do.

Went to Cardiff in the evening to buy Dawn's birthday present for her 30th next week. We stopped for food in Giovanni's which, as always, was excellent.
