Journey Through Time

On The First Warm Day in May

We went to Bauman Farms out of Woodburn, Oregon and then to Al's Greenhouse in Woodburn for our annual Mother's Day shopping for flowers day. It was the First Warm Day in May, and the J C Penney ad playing on TV is playing that song, a song buried deep in my childhood. I have no idea how I even knew this song, but it was refreshing to hear it on that ad. Rosemary Clooney sings it and that is who you hear in that TV ad. (You can hear her sing it here.) Anyway...it was, indeed, the first warm day in May and in the greenhouses we all got extremely hot and it sapped what strength we had, so after getting through there as fast as we could...both places in fact...we headed to Elmer's Pancake House on the other side of the freeway near the Woodburn Company Stores (a huge mega complex of outlet stores where one is supposedly buying products at a reduced price..) and found some cold ice water and a late lunch.

We all could have laid down and taken a nap, warm and with a full tummy, but Bill headed for home and at home, it doesn't seem quite so uncomfortable. Which is nice. And maybe we can get in a game of "Clue" later on.

I liked several of my photos but my son liked this Yellowjacket wasp that was buzzing around this plant. Considering I took this with my 300mm and cropped the heck out of it, it's not too bad.

We sure saw some pretty things today.

Hope your weekend is going well, Blippers. See ya. Moms, you have a nice day tomorrow. And if you aren't a Mom, have a nice day too. Doesn't matter. Everybody can have a nice day!!
