Snow and Holidays

The snow continues to fall.  This is a view from the back of the library. That lamp has featured has featured in previous snowy blips and Narnia has been mentioned.
Today was the final day of work before Christmas and  I am heartily relieved that this term is over.  It has been extremely stressful,.  The three different reorganisations have not improved our working life at all, which will come as no surprise to those who have worked with reorganisations imposed from above without any consultation.  In 18 months our campus will close and all the work move to Sundsvall but the upper echelons of the university has been silent on how things are going (are they going?) and seem to have a total disregard for those actually doing the work.
A recent survey about the working environment showed that our university is far below the average of other government organisations and the faith in the upper management is sadly lacking.
The really frustrating thing about all this, and the saving grace, is that below the upper management are so many dedicated, clever and hard-working people. My nearest colleagues are a joy to work with, the teachers I meet in my work really try to achieve the best for their students.
Ho hum, enough whinging. I now have three weeks away from the fray and have just celebrated with a glass of sherry and a pint of the local beer.
And now we have new snow :-) !
