Life's Little Moments

Flying...

What a day.

The good part was meeting up with a fellow wildlife photographer at Fort DeSoto for several hours today.  We enjoyed beautiful weather and many birds.

The bad part was when I got home and saw how poorly my little Rocket was doing.  Hubs had been trying to feed him, with no success, and I did not fare any better.  He was just lying on the floor, utterly lethargic.  We quickly decided that we couldn't wait for the regular vet to reopen tomorrow so took Rock to an emergency facility.

The long and short... he's a sick kitty and is badly dehydrated.  He is going to be in the hospital at least until Tuesday and he is currently catheterized and on an IV for fluids, plus another antibiotic to fight the UTI.  It is a mark of how sick he is that they were able to do this without knocking him out.  We were able to see him briefly before we left.  They ran a new set of bloodwork while we waited and there are no markers that are alarming.  So, hopefully the IV and antibiotics will get him on the road to recovery.  They also plan to do an ultrasound on Tuesday before (hopefully) releasing him to us.

I had a bit of a meltdown at the vet - hubs kept a stiff upper lip and let me sob all over his shoulder.  He's a good man, hubs.  Anyway, we think our boy will be okay. I will call first thing in the morning to check on him.  Keep a good thought for him, okay?

Hugs your pets, people.
