New Zealand summers.

Blue skies and red Pohutukawa flowers. The people around the bay have planted quite a few Pohutukawa  trees over the years. They are getting more showy every year.
After posting our girls on their birthday for my blip for the day on 1st January, we had a call that a Wajax pump (used for fire fighting) was floating out the sounds on a little barge. We went out to find it about 7.30pm and found it out around the point in the Mahua Sound. Someone had already tied it to a tree. It was a pump, but one used for gold dredging. It had washed down the river in the heavy rain we had on the 31st.
Yesterday I was told it was from up by Canvastown & had come out of the Wakamarina River, and the chap had lost 2 pumps, plus cans of fuel and other gear that had been by the river. The river had risen very quickly with the rain, and there hadn't been any warning about it.
