Farranamanagh

A very enjoyable evening at TJ's last night - good food, good spirits, good company, good chat. We woke to lashing rain but this suddenly cleared and the day was beautiful. I took some cards  down to Kilcrohane then we had a longer than anticipated walk round the lake at Farranamanagh and then on along the shore. The light was so clear and the colours so intense, it almost looked good enough to have a swim.
A remarkable fresh water lake, separated from the sea by a spit of pebbles, usually full of swans and other seabirds. Today just two glided around silently - legend has it that these two are Spanish princes, accidentally drowned in the lake hundreds of years ago and turned into swans for eternity. This teeny submerged jetty is always intriguing - something about poles disappearing into the water. The water is so cold and clear and the poles lead to who knows where .....
