Apollo's Tears?

I visited Robin, who helped us for many years on the nursery, on Christmas Eve to take him his gift. He's a lovely old man and it makes me feel very humble to hear him talk so fondly of his time with us.

He always gets me a bunch of carnations, for old times' sake I suppose as we used to produce millions. This year it was the garish red and white striped variety Arthur. We used to grow hyacinths too and he had bought me a pot of those. "I don't know what colour it is but I hope it's pink."

I was hoping that it would be white and I wasn't disappointed. :) It filled our little garden room with perfume. I noticed today that one floret has a stripe of pink. Dear Robin got his wish. :)
