The Edge of the Wold

Tromso

The view across the harbour in Tromso to the Arctic Cathedral. Earlier in the day we had been across the bridge for a concert there, enthralled by the singing and awed by the huge mosaic glass window depicting the 'Return of Christ'.

Later, we had our only glimpse in two weeks of the Northern Lights.  This was what Wifie had really wanted to see on this trip, but we had been unlucky with night after night of cloudy skies.  Late this evening, there was a brief parting of the clouds that lasted no more than 5 minutes, and through the gap there was the flickering green of the Aurora.  We were fortunate to be there, most of the passengers were in bed and didn't make it up on deck in time.

Backblipped on 10 January 2015, I at last found time before Christmas to sort out my photographs from Norway and some of them went into Wifie's Gus yearbook (no Gus, alas - he was at home being looked after by Dr T).
