Bergen Blackbird

Backblip posted on 23 May 2014.

I've been very remiss with sorting out and blipping images from our trip to Norway. So here's one more, from the final day on land. We sailed into Bergen in the early morning, and we had a few hours to explore. It was less than a few in fact, because Bergen being a rainy place, it came on to rain very heavily shortly after this photo was taken and we eventually had to retreat to cover.

We climbed a little way above the town with its colourful buildings and roofs, the blackbird perched obligingly with this backdrop. And at this point, Wifie who has been missing Gus terribly, met a puppy Border Collie that was only 12 weeks old. He satisfied the need for a bit of collie comfort, but also made us wonder what Gus would have been like as a puppy - adorable.

I've been to Bergen before, the view of the town from the boat is one of the best arrival views you can have coming into port.

We had a taster of Norway in two weeks. Visiting by boats gets you to places that would otherwise involve long drives, but on the other hand, how can you possibly to do justice to a country with a 7 or 8 landings for perhaps 4 hours?
