Stratford-upon-Avon Town Station

I called this Stratford-upon-Avon Town Station as Stratford actually has two railway stations; this original, a very short walk from the town centre, and serving all towns north and west (the lines terminate here, yes we are the end of the line) and Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway.

There has been a spate of ‘Parkway’ stations in the country, the idea being that people park up for the day at a faceless, characterless twin platforms and go off to work (or play) somewhere.  The idea being to stop cars driving into town I guess and parking at the original station, which in Stratford’s case has just been redesigned and laid out to accommodate many more cars.  Stratford Parkway is three or four minutes away from this station (and all trains stop at both stations) and cost umpteen million pounds to build.

Anyway I didn’t want to rant about wasting tax payer’s money on a useless station, it just kind of happened.

I had a very pleasant afternoon at The Garrick quaffing pints of Abbot Ale with Roz.  As usual we moaned about Blipolar and chatted about this and that.

Later I caught up on the snooker and watched the next instalment of the excellent French police series, Spiral.
