West Cork Blippers met up for their monthly gathering today. Bright sunshine but icy, skiddy patches on the roads as we headed east towards Clonakilty. Fuelled by delicious soup, bread and cheese (thank you Zillah) at Michael's house we headed off to Rathbarry. As Michael observed, a bit Stepford Wives and tidy but rather charming. We visited the old sprigging school where young women were once instructed into the fiddly arts of lace making and crochet. Onwards to the parish church and then to the ruined church, once the family church of the Freke family and part of the huge estate of Castlefreke. We ended up frolicking on Long Strand, such a soft icy blue but one very small person was paddling. Tea and scones at the Celtic Ross hotel with a bit of a Fawlty Towers air about it and all agreed a good day had been had.
In attendance:

Today's blip was snapped around the back of Rathbarry Post Office - I dunno, something about that white washing and Celtic lettering on the loo door. I missed the three peacocks which were hanging aound though.
Last night's film A Theory About Everything was wonderful - we both came out entranced, entertained and quite moved. The acting is astonishing, the story poignant and what a foul and cruel disease Motor Neurone is.
