Sopwith Camel - Imperial War Museum

Taking the afternoon in the new WWI section of the Imperial War Museum.

Planes hanging from the ceiling. Giant guns all polished and menacing. A different world in many respects, but the politics and human struggles are all too familiar.

Whilst we enjoyed the WWI section, it did take quite some time to take it in, meandering through the narrow pathway which would have been a struggle had it been more crowded. The main part of the museum was far more haphazard. Exhibits were squeezed awkwardly together in the surrounding galleries with a dearth of explanatory boards - just the occasional 'tv screen panel' which you had to stand by to watch it cycle through the slides of rather minimal information.
