St.George slaying the Dragon

This splendid stained glass window decorates the staircase in Surrey County Hall in Kingston upon Thames.

According to the legend, when he stabbed the dragon with his spear it broke into a thousand pieces. He was later to have killed it with his sword by finding a weak area under its wings.

One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
