History of Ruuskanen's house...

I saw this old photo taken in January 1940 and was very keen on photograph the house again today. The house is also known as the palace Ruuskanen.

Kaarlo Ruuskanen (who also had costume factory) built this residential and commercial building in Tampere Hämeenkatu in late 1800's. Neo-Renaissance building was designed by Lambert Petterson. It's first parts were completed in 1892 and the last part of 1901..

The Ruuskanen house was damaged during the Winter War bombings. And in the little photo in the right upper corner you can see how the house looked as all the fire had been extinguished in 1940. The old photograph is captured by Eero Troberg and it is photo from the book "Tampereen sota ja rauha".

After the war time the house was repaired and built one layer higher and the Ruuskanen's costume factory was built to Pellavatehtaankatu side of the house also in 1942 . Both were planned by the architects Märta Blomstedt and Matti Lampén.

Some part of the history I think!
