The Biggest Bloom

What I thought was a zygo cactus scaring me the other night is actually an orchid cactus or epiphyllum oxypetalum! I am so pleased that I finally tracked it down!

The plant had another five blooms and they were all open this morning. This one was the largest of them all and so beautiful! They only last for the one day so that's it for another year :(.

I love the little drops of special syrup they exude and so do the little ants and flying insects who gather around once the flower crumples and sip that delicious sweet nectar!

Ive just realised it's my 800th blip, I was going to do something special but it slipped my mind! I guess the orchid cactus is pretty special!
