Timeline

I was in Aberdeen today to celebrate the completion of the refurbished Aberdeen City Campus of the North East Scotland College. There were lots of people there, dignitaries from the local Councils, former members of staff, other Board members and, of course, the people that matter, the students. This timeline of the history of the college took my eye, capturing as it does the college's predecessor bodies and the changes in further education over the last sixty or so years. The transformation of the old Technical College building in the Gallowgate is amazing. It was built in the sixties and has been reclad as its concrete core was still in good condition, and should last another fifty years, providing a fit for purpose facility in an ideal setting in the middle of the city at a fraction of the cost of a new build. After the speeches and the unveiling of the commemorative plaque we were treated to an excellent afternoon tea in the training restaurant. Not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon! Pity about the two hour drive home though. I'd forgotten how bad the traffic is in the city and am thankful it's no longer my daily commute. Have a good weekend fellow blippers!
