On the festival of Saraswati

This morning I went to Swayambhunath, often referred to as the Monkey Temple, which is actually a complex of Buddhist and Hindu temples. Saraswati, goddess of knowledge, is reverred in both religions, so there were a lot of people around, though few tourists.

This little boy was selling chalk for a mass graffiting of all available surfaces - all in the name of education! He went a bit coy after I asked him if I could take his photo, but he brightened up when I bought a stick of his chalk.
