Meet Donna

Mr&MrsB popped by on their Sunday afternoon walk with Donna, their Deutsch Stichelhaar (German Roughhaired Pointer). Donna is a working hunt dog and with MrB's hobby duties as an official hunter, she can be called up 24/7 by the police to track down injured wild animals. She's a big softie with us humans but contact with other pets and smallish things like chickens is difficult. Sadly MrB hasn't trained her to track Dutch conmen but I know he has made a start and been in Holland with Donna to do some "work" with colleagues on lakes with water fowl. We have some here but not a lot. The breed is over 100 years old, a cross between sheep and standing dogs.

In the background MrsB and I are playing push-o'-war with a sliding barn door. MrsB won 3-0.

We had a bit of wet snow again last night. Apparently it caused some chaos in the middle of Germany yesterday (Düsseldorf/Frankfurt) but here it just managed to got on the nuisance factor rating because it was so wet and stuck in the horses hooves when Angie rode out.

Couldn't invite Mr&MrsB in. I had wanted to show them a lovely kitchen pot set which I was prepared to give them at a special price and would have thrown in a lovely professional 5* kitchen knife set for free. They said Donna could smell something fishy and they ought to go before she got aggressive. Shame as I wanted to do them a great favour. Another day perhaps.
