Ingleborough

..The Arctic blast is on its way!

We had a day out today, promised since Christmas but there never seemed to be a day that suited all when the forecast looked decent. As we were only really making a trip to Lakeland Plastics in Windermere we decided to risk going today even though the weather wasn't going to be great, at least we would be ahead of the snow being forecast for the next few days.

We stopped here at Country Harvest, just above Ingleton, for coffee on the way up and there was very little snow in evidence. This, taken from the car window on our return journey at about 3.30, shows the snow showers coming in and settling even below the high peaks.

There was quite a lot in evidence on the Lakeland fells too and the wintery showers kept on coming as we had lunch at Blackwell the lovely arts and crafts house above Lake Windermere. Not much of a view today, it kept disappearing!

We had a warming bowl of Lamb stew followed by Tea bread and Wensleydale cheese. Yummy.

Time to get back. As in this picture there was much more snow in evidence on the return route but the most was in Bradford where we had to return our friend home. Not just more snow but awful traffic too! Still we made it home in time for the pub!

Snowing like mad now!
