Παρασκευή

Paraskevi is the Greek for Friday. Most anglophones would assume that the stress is on the third syllable so that it would scan with 'she's a skivvy' whereas in fact the stress is on the fourth syllable so it scans better with 'fancy a tea?'

Paraskevi is also the Greek word for 'preparation' which is a nod in the direction of the Jewish faith where Friday is spent preparing for the Sabbath, on Saturday. But in fact, in the Greek Orthodox Christian faith the Sabbath is on Sunday, which is called Kyriaki, which means 'the Lord's day'.

And so it is that on this Friday I am blipping the preparation I have done for my little Islamic project because Friday is the Islamic day of worship.

And thank you lovely people for yesterday's stars :-)
